How Many Died When You Were Born?

141,471 People

This is definitely a morbid fact on a grand day of birth. But we tend to overlook the truth that people die also on our own birthdays, ei? :D (Was the smiley unsuitable here?)

This "quiz" is much like those in Blogthings, only the graphics are much cooler. Here are other morbid morsels and eccentric what-nots:

I'm not sure if I'm selling my cadaver.

If you're interested with an Obama Blogger Template...

I like browsing at btemplates.com for Blogger templates of different colors and designs. But I didn't expect Obama to be one of them.

It's even titled Probama. Nice one.

So if you're really into Obama, why not try the template out? :D

Aside from Probama, Garfield and Kung Fu Panda caught my eye in vivid red.

Click the images/links for the download page. The site also has samples of the templates in live blogspots as well.

There's Nothing Normal in the Blogosphere

I say there's nothing normal in the blogosphere because you have various opportunities and circumstances in the blogosphere that you won't have the chance to do in real life.

In your blog you not only shout out your feelings and ideas but you share your own self to the world. You can be a celebrity to most netizens like Bryanboy and PerezHilton. You can be somebody to your group of blogger friends even if in reality you may just be a normal person like me, who most people don't know exist. Haha, morbidness.

The blogosphere is a different world in the universe, perhaps on the astral plane. You get to have friends and comrades through virtual communities like I have in Litratong Pinoy or with others in Wordless Wednesday and the like. You can get paid with saying something positive on a product as a sponsored post or you can win on a contest just by announcing it in your blog.

And even when you think that you're just talking to yourself (like I do) in a journal, you're really unfolding yourself to a stranger who got interested with what you're trying to say. And that is a very fulfilling experience for me. I'm also touched whenever fellow bloggers give awards to me even if they're just tags or if someone's rooting for my blog in an online contest.

Here's my latest award from my kambal Enday, which is actually a personalized e-card so it makes it more touching even:

And I'm nominated for Filipino Blog of the Week (130) again. (Again because this blog was nominated a month ago, if I remember right, on my previous blogspot domain.) However I tired of campaigning too much for a contest plus I'd want to win because I didn't ask them to support me. So if you like my blog (and I'm not forcing you to), you can vote for me here. I don't know the criteria for the nominations but I'm still touched that someone recognizes me here.

Still I'm just a normal gal in the real world. Nothing's changed in my real life, but in the blogosphere I'm more able to express myself and I got to know some sweet individuals. Has blogging changed your life?

Happy weekend, everybody. ^^

Blog for All Reasons

The problem with having a lot of blogs is doubling the effort for writing bloggeries for such. Aside from this blog, I have a photo blog, a recent "humor" blog, a long-time poetry blog (which I don't get to update now because I lost my muse), a tech blog (dump actually of tech errors and solutions) among many more others. Hahaha. Yeah, the list can go on and on. Oh and I almost forgot a partnership blog for Pampanga. (We're actually asking if you can write some bloggeries on that blog. Contact me at admin@iamneri.com if you want to. Thanks in advance! ^^)

Ok, I'm not just addicted to blogging. I got a lot of ideas going and when I do have an idea, I want it to be separated from the others because I don't want to mix up my seriousness and eccentricities in one blog. Hehehe. Hope you don't get confused though. ^^

For Enday

This bloggery (blog post) is lovingly dedicated to my kambal (twin) in the blogosphere, Enday.

I just read her hurt over people who are judging her emo bloggery as entry for an online emo-writing contest. Some bloggers were saying that her blog is considered a humor blog so it was not appropriate to post such emotions. Worse, some didn't even believe her.

I think it's very cruel of those bloggers to judge Enday and misinterpret her purpose. Who would post such painful memories on her family if it were not true? And what would she gain? Can't a funny person have a soft spot, a broken heart? Ironic but I believe that the saddest stories come from those who laugh the most. I'm really infuriated with these people who wrongly judge my fellow blogger. She was just being true to herself but she was told a liar. She was just reaching out but she was told inappropriate.

Well, we have to accept that there are such people in the world. They say life is unfair but I think we make it so. Anyway, I'm here for you, kambal. Hugs.

Do You Know How to Compute for Your Page Rank?

Well, I don't but nevertheless...

PR4 in 4 Months
Yay, my photo blog Galleria Neri is PR4 already! I'm so happy when I caught sight of my page rank on the blog itself because I installed a PR checker tool on the blog.

I created Galleria Neri only May 29th of this year so I'm really overwhelmed with this achievement. PR4 in a span of 4 months! ^^

However I'm still skeptical so in case that PR drops by tomorrow, here's a screenshot as Exhibit A. Hahaha.

Understanding Page Rank (PR)
I think a lot of us are still in the dark with this page ranking of Google. And even if I read articles on this, my eensy mind can't grasp its complexity and totality. (Can also be total complexity or complex totality, ei? :D) Plus I don't want to comprehend it anymore because it's Google's computation and I'm a lazy procrastinator. (Redundant, yeah.)

What I'm able to understand is page rank basically computes our sites through incoming and outgoing links. If a higher PR site links to you, that's a big plus to your ranking. Outgoing links in your site however lessens your chances for a high PR. But that may be balanced by link exchanges, of course.

But of course, there's more to it than that. There are a lot of conditions and rules that Google puts on sites that will affect the computation. Inbound links are also a plus since the site's PR is the sum of all the pages' ranks. Anyway, here's a very good article on explaining Google Page Rank and how to make the most of it.

Check Your Page Rank
To check your site's page rank, just input your site's URL below and click the Check PR button. If it turns out N/A, don't get too disappointed because Google might not have indexed your pages as of late or perhaps you may not have updated your site recently. Hehehe.

Go to Google's PR Checker for more info especially if you want to embed the tool in your blog/site. Also if you haven't updated your embed code since they changed a bit of the tracking code because of spammers.

Check Page Rank of any web site pages instantly:

This free page rank checking tool is powered by Page Rank Checker service

Happy ranking! Exchange links? Hahaha.

Web Hosting Geeks

I've come across Web Hosting Geeks a long time ago but I wasn't interested that time with web hosting so I didn't pay much attention at the time. However since I just got my domain and all, I think it’s time to be serious about these kind of stuff and think of the many options out there.

Browsing through their site, I’ve come across this Web Hosting Guide which I think is pretty helpful with beginners like me in the world of web hosting. Aside from the said article, they’ve got a lot more in store for us to delve into the subject. Moreso, we can find different kinds of web hosting services listed there to suit our specific needs, which we can easily look for in the site. But what I liked most in the site is the name itself. That’s why it’s so familiar and catchy. Hehehe.

Belated Happy Blogday to Me

I thought this blog's birthday was this month so I was supposed to write on its birthday here. But checking on my first post, this blog's birthday is in fact on the 16th of August!!! I missed its birthday. Boohoo. (FYI, Aug 16 is also my friend Nhut's birthday. :P)

So I'll blog about my own anniversary in blogging instead. It was September 22, 2005 when I first entered the blogosphere through Friendster. (And I'm surprised in visiting my first blog because I didn't know that WordPress hosted Friendster blogs now. I'm so outdated. Hehehe. Well, good for them.)

As what happened last year, I didn't know that I was turning 3 years in blogging.

I celebrated my second year of blogging last September 22 without me knowing it transpired already. My, my. I thought I'd be able to post on the same day that I first spoke up in the blogosphere. I came a little late.

I first blogged at Friendster when I had no knowledge whatsoever of blogging.

So belated happy blogday to me! ^^

Wishing myself more readers, blog posts and blogs to come for the next year. Thanks for being a part of my 3rd year! Lemme see if I can cook something as a token of my appreciation to my loyal readers. (How many they may be.) I think I got my domain on my first day for my 4th year. Yay, what a start! ^^

Cheers! :)

Easiest Way to Setup Your Own Domain in Blogger

Hooray, I've got my own domain! ^^

So to everyone who links me up, please change my URL to http://www.iamneri.com. Anyway, my previous URL redirects to my new domain so it's ok also.

I was about to purchase a domain in GoDaddy.com but then I had to check the settings for setting up a domain hosted in Blogger. Lo and behold because Blogger already offers you to buy a domain that will be automatically linked to your existing blog in Blogger. Great!

Just go to your blogger dashboard and click Settings. Proceed to the Publishing tab and if you're still publishing your blog under the blogspot domain of Blogger, click the Custom Domain link provided.

You will then be directed to the Buy Domain Page where you can choose your domain name and check its availability.

Once your chosen domain name is available, you will be redirected to the first of three steps for setting up the domain via Google Apps. You will be prompted of the features included in the $10 package and then click the "Continue your registration" button to proceed. You will then be asked to input certain details for the domain afterwhich you can proceed to Google Checkout and complete the purchase.

Note: If you can't proceed to checkout because the system prompts you that street address must be at most 30 characters, cut a part of your address in the first textbox then paste it to the second. That would do the trick so you can be allowed for the next step. It seems like a bug that Google needs to fix. Anyway, I still love Google. Teehee.

So there you go, you have your own domain automatically setup with your Blogger account and other Google services. How easy is that, ei?

So why www.iamneri.com instead of www.iamner.com? The iamner.com is already taken by the International Association of Minority Network Equipment Resellers (IAMNER). Huhuhu. So bear with the additional 'i' and I'm thinking what to put after Never Ending Resolve that starts with the letter 'I'. Any suggestions? :D

Adik sa Tabi

Sorry for not informing you immediately but... I have a new blog! And it's so aptly titled "Adik sa Tabi" (Addict in a Corner) because of my true nature. Nyahaha.

Well, it's not associated with drug pushing and using so go ahead and visit me there at http://adiksatabi.blogspot.com.  However, this is solely for Pinoy audience only. Sorry, guys. I should have an outlet in my native tongue. I do believe so. XD

Kadamo Award

Thanks to Kadamo Arvin of Damuhan for this Kadamo Award. (Though it sounds like a Filipino curse. Hehe.) But I am touched. Thanks again, Arvin! ^^

I'm giving this out to all my blogger friends who continuously support me by voting for my blogs at CarlotaOnline and Galleria Neri.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, even my non-blogger friends and their friends, who are still supporting me all the way. I'm deeply touched and honored. You just don't know how important your support means to me.

I'm not the type that bothers anyone for favors that's why these contests are testing my social skills. I might not want to be in one again after this. Haha.

Hugs and kisses to all! ^^

Top 3 Picks for Litratong Pinoy's Father

Okei, despite being groggy until now... (I'm late again. Hehe.)

Here's my top three Litratong Pinoy entries for last week's theme, Itay (Father).

#3. I chose Punto de Vista's entry for the father of her child because they were such a sweet couple. Read the first comment in that post, which was her husband's answer to her happiness. I hope I find such a man as well. *sigh*

#2. Meanwhile, Dr. Emer's entry was likened to a painting due to its blurry effect. I like the way the kid's happiness and security depended on her father's hand.

#1. My personal favorite is Alpha's take on her husband and daughter. I just love its simplicity and sincerity. Go look at it to understand what I feel.

So that was my top 3 picks for last week's LP theme. This is just based on my own taste so go visit the other entries as well. They're all beautiful, especially the stories. Happy and sad stories of fatherhood. Beautiful indeed.

Here's my entry for that, which I'm quite proud of, aptly titled "Papa".

Next week, I'll post my favorites for LP's theme this week, Pag-aaral (Studying). I haven't finished my rounds yet. Hehe.

I really enjoy doing LP because I get to write Filipino essays, which I seldom do now, and I learn a lot from the stories of my LP friends. Hope you can join us as well. Bye for now and have a sweet night, folks! ;)

Hooray, I'm in PayPerPost!

Yes, this blog has been approved in payperpost! Isn’t that great? ^^

I’ve been blogging for almost three years already but I haven’t embraced such tools for getting paid just by writing a sponsored post in your blog. (Well, I also didn’t have much time then in my hands to blog regularly.)

So now I’m venturing to the world of sponsorship via payperpost. I just read the email this afternoon, telling me that my blog was approved and I can now take “opportunities”. I logged into the site and the layout is pretty cool. I love the colors and the handy information one can get just by browsing through the home page. The opportunities are also well-displayed and color-coded so you can easily bid on opportunities that are available to you.

Honestly, I was really hesitant before in entering this realm of blogging but I said to myself: What the heck? There’s no harm in trying and I got nothing to lose, right? A lot of my co-bloggers are doing it for the past years, especially stay-at-home moms (that’s why they’re able to stay at home, huh?) who even help in paying for their children’s tuition just by their earnings in doing sponsored posts, so why can’t I? This is a lot like what I wanted for passive income so I’m going for it. And I urge you to do the same. :)

Why Am I Still Blogging in the Wee Hours of the Morning?

At least I'm not the only one. It seems that Fab and FaeryRowan are still up with the way we've been hopping to each other's blogs. Hehe.

Well, I've been up because I got caught up in blogging late last evening (coz it's morning already, yeah).

Why was my last photo post late? Because I was dropping by my peers in Litratong Pinoy (LP).

You should join us as well because it's not only fun but inspiring. You don't need to be a photographer, just have some of your own pictures handy for the weekly themes. :)

Tomorrow I'll share with you my favorite LP entries for the past two weeks. I can't share them to you right now because I'm already groggy. Hehe.

But here's my latest LP entry titled "Sunog na Kilay (Burnt Brows)":

Click image to go to this entry.

If you will notice, that photo post is the only one with the image not as enlarged as the others. I'll just whisper to you why... 'Coz I didn't get the shot right so it pixelates when enlarged. Haha!Shh. ^^

I've already picked that as my LP entry for the week but I haven't noticed the problem when I took the pic last weekend. It just so happened that there was a brownout at home because of Typhoon Frank and Let needed the candlelight so she could continue with her lesson-planning. :D

Okei, so bye for now. Good morning, my readers, and my back is already sore. immaout!

NER's Blog Readability

blog readability test

Movie Reviews

Hmmm... actually I don't think this is very accurate because last night, I checked this blog's readability and it turned out "High School". So how can my blog's level jump from high school to genius in a matter of 24 hours, ei? I think it's the first post. Perhaps that's it. I don't know. Or the home page.

For my other blogs, Galleria Neri's readability is College Post-Grad while my poetry blog and tech blog are both considered Genius. Yeah, right. Hahaha! Ego splurge. XD

I Don't Have a Job But I'm Busy

Taking blogging seriously ain't easy. (But then when you take something seriously, where's the easy part there, ei?)

You have to promote your blog via blog-hopping then link exchanges, submitting your blog to various registration sites, joining forums and blog groups and, of course, blog. And if you really want to stand out, you just don't blog. You have to blog with the best way you can. Still if you want to make an income, it should be SEO-optimized or sponsored.

I've been blogging for less than three years now. First in Friendster then I got into Blogger, Tabulas, and WordPress. Now I'm settled with Blogger until WordPress can accommodate AdSense without additional costs. Haha. (Or I'm just too dumb to make it work there with a free account. I'm stingy; I don't want to get a domain. I'm also lazy, btw. Haha.)

I started out with blogging because I just wanted to practice my English because eversince I got out of school, I hardly talk or write in English. I had to sharpen my mind before it can get any duller. Of course, I only wanted to vent out my thoughts as well, given that I am a frustrated writer.

But now I want to take my blogging to the next level. (If there are levels indeed.) I've been procrastinating for the past years and just doing mediocre posts just so I could post. God help me. XD
