Beyonce and Springsteen in We are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration Concert (video)

Here's a video message from Obama regarding the inauguration itself and related events. Despite not being American, his words strike me in his closing message which rings truth not only to American citizens but also to the world.



Before Obama's inauguration tomorrow (with Charice Pempengco singing at Washington ^^) at around 12:30 am Philippine time (:D), here are the two closing performances from the inaugural celebration concert last Jan 18. It was a free star-studded concert indeed as NPR stated in their gallery "We are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial."

Moymoy Palaboy Act while Driving (video)

Here's Moymoy Palaboy and his cohorts doing an impromptu Uno Dos Tres while he's driving a car around Manila, I guess. I just can't imagine if their car isn't tinted and how motorists and pedestrians reacted seeing them doing this ruckus while driving around the metro.

Filipino Firsts: SpongeCola's Latest Album in MP3/MP4 Format

Surprisingly, SpongeCola released its latest self-titled album in digital format. And that's the first of its kind in the Filipino music industry. :)

They have 46 songs in MP3 format and 10 music videos in MP4. (Because I was not taking down notes on the ASAP segment, please correct me if I'm wrong with the numbers.)

I thought they were selling the songs/videos online because it's digital but hey, they're selling MP3/MP4 players with the songs! (And earphones and charger to boot. Hehe.) Anyway, as Yael put it, these are good gifts in case you still have to buy presents for your loved ones for the recent holiday season.

Here's Di Na Mababawi, the band's latest single, which is also included in their self-titled album. Something dramatic from the rock band.

Update: The album with the MP3/MP4 player costs Php 1,000.00. Saw this on an Odyssey stall at SM Megamall, but more surprisingly for me is that Regine Velasquez has an album with this kind of gimmick as well, costing Php 1,800.00. Perhaps we'll see more of this digital album stuff with other artists?

Hell's Bells

Bells for Christmas cheer and Hell for the world economy.

(I've been muttering "Hell's bells" yesterday due to circumstances testing my patience. After stating that to myself, I asked: Where did I get that? Haha. I might be going English - Brit English - and say "bollocks" next time.)

Trivia: Hells Bells is actually a song by the by Australian hard rock group AC/DC and this was played in the movie The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift. (I'm not a rock fan so I don't know much about AC/DC, just hear their name now and then.)

You got mud on your face, you big disgrace...

I'm not totally a rock and roll fan but I think this music genre rocked better in the 80s. (Well I was born in '83. :D)

So have you guessed the title of the song in this post? "You got mud on your face, you big disgrace..." ;)

Moymoy Palaboy Version of Goodbye

Don't you just love Moymoy? Well I do. He's one of the reasons I watch Bubble Gang* even if it's already late at night. Hey, it's Bubble Gang night later! ^^

MANILA, Philippines—The latest YouTube sensation is not a singer in the usual sense, but two Pinoy lip-synching siblings, whose uproarious antics have earned them fans worldwide, including Peter Cetera of the famous 1970s group, Chicago.

The novelty music video act that is Moymoy Palaboy debuted on the Internet in February 2007, purely on a whim. “Trip lang, gusto lang naming makita sarili namin sa YouTube, [We just wanted to see ourselves in YouTube.]” says James Ronald Obeso, a.k.a. Moymoy.

Since then, it has a garnered a total of 7.12 million hits for 22 uploaded videos.

At first, James had difficulty convincing Rofil, his younger brother, who was very shy. But when Rofil finally said yes, deciding to wear a bushy wig to hide his identity, the act proved to be a rib-tickling bombshell waiting to explode.

Using a Sony Ericsson W810i cell phone with a 2-megapixel camera — and with Rofil editing the footage on an HP laptop — the first Moymoy Palaboy video, ‘N Sync’s “Dirty Pop,” featured only James.

I like this song from the Twilight OST I've presented yesterday. It's actually my current fave. (imeem is now my regular dose of music updates.)

I'm amused by the long title, that's why I put it there with the band as well. At first I thought the lyrics were just random lyrical words but on second thought, it might present a deeper, and even political, thought. Reflecting on this, even jumbled words can have meaning to anyone who wants to make a meaning of it, ei?

Twilight Soundtrack

Caught this playlist from imeem. Catherine Hardwicke, Twilight's director, talks about the film's soundtrack. There's also a bonus clip of a song that didn't make it in the OST.




I haven't read Twilight actually but I'm going to watch this movie. I have e-books but isn't the story more suited for teens? (Not that I don't have the brain of a teenager.) Perhaps I'm just too influenced with Anne Rice's Lestat.

Is rock the most suitable music for vampires? Lestat did rock. How about trance?

Singing Christmas Carols Already?

Christmas starts early in September and ends late in January here in the Philippines. Merry Christmas! ^^ (I'm thinking of putting a Christmas tree and trinkets here in the blog but I still don't know how.)

When Guitars Sing Too

In response to my Acoustic post, May of Recipe Hotline shared another guitarist who makes the guitar sing. ;)

Welcome young Sungha Jung and his flicking fingers in this Mission Impossible theme.



I saw the other videos in Macuha.com but the MI theme is my best bet yet. I love the song "More than Words" but I don't think Jung's rendition wasn't polished enough. What do you think?



Anyway, this song is really a difficult one to perform as my friends say because of the plucking. Still, bravo to this young acoustic wonder. Any more music idols you found out there? ;)

This video is the first acoustic wonder that enthralled me. Let's hear out Andy McKee's rendition of Africa, which was originally performed by Toto.



Aside from Andy McKee above, I recently found another acoustic idol in YouTube, Naudo. I like his version of Careless Whisper.



But I still heart Andy McKee's style because of his soothing music and eccentric style especially drifting. He's like a one-man band, ei? ^^

I'm so into this song of The Pussycat Dolls, When I Grow Up. Well I don't wanna be famous but I totally love the line "Be careful what you wish for coz you just might get it..." ;)

Manalig Ka by Laarni Lozada

This contest piece of Laarni Lozada (aka Laarni Losala) is a recent composition of Mr. Ryan Cayabyab included in the album Scholars Sing Cayabyab. (Which btw I haven't bought yet. Bummer. >.<) I was rooting for Bugoy to be the Grand Star Dreamer but I think his piece wasn't as competitive as Laarni's. Still I'm happy for him and he's still my idol. ^^ Nevertheless, I knew back then that Laarni had the most beautiful voice among all of them. She just needs to work on her attitude. Keep striving, Laarni. :)

Scholars Sing Cayabyab

Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 launched its new album last gala night on Aug 30. Entitled "Scholars Sing Cayabyab", the album showcases Mr. C's new compositions sung by the Headmaster's Top Ten this season, namely Bugoy, Liezel, Inaki, Miguel, Cris, Sen, Van, Apple, Laarni, and Bunny.

I totally love "Paano na Kaya" and I'm simply delighted that Bugoy, my fave scholar, sang it! (Lyrics below.)

Hopefully, I'll buy a copy to support not only Bugoy but Mr. C because I believe he's truly a great composer. I really like Ryan Cayabyab's songs eversince. We need more "Cayabyabs" to grace the local music industry. More power to OPM! ^^

Wall-E Theme Song: Down to Earth by Peter Gabriel

It seems that most of the available audio/video for Wall-E's theme song 'Down to Earth' has problems with the bass especially on the opening part. Still, the song is beautiful particularly the message it conveys. I didn't leave the moviehouse immediately after the ending because of the song and the credits with accompanying animated continuation of the film.

Emphasized in bold face below are my favorite lines to reflect on. ;)
