Can Google Overtake Microsoft?

Well, I think so and I'm waiiiiting.... :D

[Disclaimer: I'm a huge Google fan despite the fact that I've been using Microsoft dev tools for almost 4 years already. And if Google sets up a dev team here in the Philippines, I'd be willing to apply. Well, at least I have some recent background in PHP. Enough of the phantasmagorical techie geekness. To think I'm not really techie. Teehee. ^^]

ANDROID TO RUN ON NETBOOKS BY 2010?

Here's an Asus EEEPC 1000H running on Google’s mobile operating system Android.

Yes, the Android is really Google's mobile OS (and I'm still wondering what phone to use this to now) and it was a good surprise to know that it can also run on netbooks and is targeted to be a universal operating system at that.

IS IT POSSIBLE FOR GOOGLE TO OVERTAKE MICROSOFT?

Yes, I think so. Given the trend from the web search to gadgets (don't forget Blogger :D) then Chrome.

Google has been slowly, but surely, displacing Microsoft as the number one PC technology company. Google has done it by misdirection. Instead of taking Microsoft head-on in desktops, Google first consolidated their hold on Web search and only then started moving into Web-based desktop applications. Then, in 2008, they made their first direct strike at the desktop with the release of their own Web browser: Google Chrome.

You see, killing Internet Explorer isn't really Chrome's goal. No, killing Microsoft Office is Chrome's goal.

Chrome is open source. Its good features will soon be adopted by Firefox and other open-source browsers. Then, running on top of Windows, Mac OS, or Linux, Chrome, and the open-source browsers that take up its features, will provide the gateway on PCs and other computing devices to fast, efficient and safe Web-based applications.

Great free Web applications or pricey Office applications... Hmmm... Ballmer and the rest of the Microsoft crew should be worried. Very worried.

MICROSOFT SHOULD DO BETTER

I honestly don't like Vista and still opt for XP; only it's shipped with the laptop I bought. Boohoo. Vista has received a lot of boos from a lot of people and now I read that Windows 7 is no different from Vista?!! Where's the reprogramming of the kernel for a faster OS gone to??? Hayz.

Go, Google! I'll be waiting for Android on desktop. Cheers! ^^
