The Great Azkals Experience

I admit I'm no soccer fan and I haven't watched such a game before July 3. But I definitely enjoyed it despite being in the bleachers and having to endure the pelting rain when the game commenced.


Thank God I believed PAG-ASA that there would be rainshowers and thunderstorms so my friends and I had raincoats - and maybe we were the only ones who were ready for the rain - since umbrellas were not allowed.

Professional cameras (DSLRs) were also prohibited so I didn't bring my trusty compact because I was afraid the guards would mistake it for an SLR. Yet we noticed some people who were able to smuggle in their SLRs; security was not as strict as we expected after all. So please bear with pictures and videos taken from my mobile phone.

The supportive Filipino audience helped boost the Azkals' morale I bet. My friend Almah's shriek may have startled Sri Lanka's goalkeeper. :D

The whole experience in the bleachers was worth the price and the rain so I hope I get another chance to do this all over again. Here's a clip of the running Philippine flag...

Sorry I got excited when I saw Phil Younghusband, thus the clumsy hand. Haha.

Next game is Azkals vs Kuwait. Second leg will still be held at Rizal Stadium on July 28. That's a Thursday and kick-off is at 7PM so it's a pity that I may not be able to watch this. For you who can be available at the said date and time, be sure to get your tickets at Ticketworld so you wouldn't have to buy them outside the gates of La Salle at more than half the price. ;)
